Stockton<\/a>).  I remember Pecos from a 1985 trip when my mom drove our foreign exchange student, my little brother, and me all around Texas for a whirlwind tour of the state.  (Seeing the Southforks Ranch near Dallas was a big deal&#8230; that show had just hit Denmark, the exchange student&#8217;s home.)<\/p>\n<p>Out west, we saw Pecos.  Right on the Pecos River.  I&#8217;ve always associated <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Roy_Bean\">Judge Roy Bean<\/a> with Pecos, but it seems he actually set up shop in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tshaonline.org\/handbook\/online\/articles\/LL\/hll17.html\">Langtry, Texas<\/a> &#8212; a little further west.<\/p>\n<p>Pecos is home to the World&#8217;s First Rodeo and the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westofthepecosmuseum.com\/\">West of the Pecos Museum<\/a>.&#8221;  They have a nice PDF <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pecostx.com\/pdf\/visit.pdf\">visitors&#8217; guide<\/a> online.<a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_rfIXlgkzrtE\/SayJN0GJRdI\/AAAAAAAAADU\/85zjDvK7TRM\/s1600-h\/roadrunner.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_rfIXlgkzrtE\/SayJN0GJRdI\/AAAAAAAAADU\/85zjDvK7TRM\/s200\/roadrunner.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By the way, <a href=\"http:\/\/tourtexas.com\/fortstockton\/index.cfm\">Fort Stockton<\/a> is home to the World&#8217;s Largest Roadrunner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The proposed route we&#8217;re looking at for the trip north goes right through Pecos, Texas (as well as Junction, Sonora, and Ft.
