Reflections on a tough week

So I’vegolf been visiting with a colleague over some common challenges, and I’ve been impressed by what a deep thinker he is.  Even when he’s talking about students’ behaviors, he’s really talking about the big picture and what that student behavior represents.

During one of these conversations I complimented him on a really engaging lesson and he responded with a terrific analogy for teaching.  He said, “Yeah, it’s a lot like golf.  Ninety percent of the time you’re really upset with your game.  But it’s that 10 percent that rewarding enough to keep you coming back.”

One of my favorite things about teaching is watching the master teachers who I work with get excited about a innovative lesson they’ve put together.  Those moments show that we can all refine our skill and be lifelong learners.  Go team!
